What Does PLR Mean?

By: Tiffany Dow

The acronym PLR is an abbreviation for Private Label Rights.  While this may sound very exclusive, PLR is actually easy to acquire. You might say PLR is an Internet marketer’s goldmine of fantastic content at cheap prices.

When you purchase Private Label Rights, you’re buying the same content others are buying, but you also buy the right to stake claim to it as your own and to alter it in any way you see fit.

Some marketers use the content as is, while others will change every single word – using the existing PLR as a guideline for their own work.  You can find PLR products that include web content, articles, eBooks, and even software on practically any subject that you want to promote online to a particular niche.  If you’re in the dog niche, for example, then you might find PLR content for your site, blogs, and web 2.0 offers.

What do you get with PLR that makes it worthwhile?  First, you get access to a large amount of readymade content instantly – no waiting for a ghostwriter to create it for you. Content is king, and good content is even more important.

Once you purchase the PLR product, you can make slight changes to alter the keywords for your needs or revamp a bit more. You don’t even have to be an experienced writer to make these minor changes in exchanging the keyword to fit your niche product or service.

Once the PLR product is altered, and you’ve added your name as the author (if you want to – it isn’t usually required), then you can use it in various ways depending on what the PLR seller has agreed to.

For instance, here at the PLR Mini Mart, the 5 for $5 article packs can be used in any way except to be resold as PLR content to other buyers.  This is to avoid market dilution.  The report and eBooks have the same rights.

But the 52-week autoresponder packages are reserved for list emails only.  The reason this decision was made is because I understand how important it is to give real value to your list. If they trust you enough to fork over their name and email address and then you fill their inbox with the same stuff they can search and find for free on the ‘net, then you’re not providing value.

If you have expertise in your niche area, then you can easily re-write the PLR articles as well as spin off some more articles to fill in the gaps. For instance, here you might buy one of the articles on the PLR Mini Mart about how to quit smoking. In the article I wrote, you might see a mention about nasal sprays.  Expand on that and generate your own article.

You can find PLR being sold a la carte, as it is here on the PLR Mini Mart, or where you have to invest in a membership to gain access to the content.  I don’t like membership sites only because you never know if the niche they’re giving out that month corresponds to a niche market you’re targeting.

If you’re a subscriber to a PLR notification list, as I have, then you get first dibs on the latest content because you get an email the minute a new PLR pack is ready.

Compare prices as well as quality when you’re buying PLR. As a top ghostwriter for some of the most well-known gurus in the Internet Marketing world, I have a solid reputation, and content (at about $1 a page) can’t be beat!
